From Loretta’s (formerly known as Dolores) family:
After almost 3 years, we are sad to announce the passing of our Muttville cattle dog mix, Loretta, previously Dolores 3814. She was estimated to be aged 12 when we adopted her on August 5th, 2016. She was somewhat reserved, but loved pets and cavorted about the kitchen at dinnertime, despite her arthritis. She managed to steal meat off the counter and had an encounter with a raccoon that resulted in the month long quarantine of herself and her chi mix siblings.
Over the past year, her walks became shorter and anti-inflammatory medications and supplements no longer curbed her discomfort. When Loretta was no longer comfortable standing or lying down and refused food (even ice cream) for a week, we found a vet who came to our house to help her transition. We will miss Loretta so much, but are happy she had the peaceful passing she deserved.
Poor Dolores has been through so much change lately, so she can’t wait to find a mellow, stable home to call her own! From being found as a stray, to living in a shelter, to Muttville, its no wonder she’s a little nervous! Fortunately, she starting to gain a bit more confidence every day around new people. Once she’s comfortable, Dolores is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes, and likes to take her afternoon naps in the sunshine. Dolores will make a great addition to a home that can spoil her rotten and give her all the daily love she deserves!
Original profile
Here’s what Dolores’ foster has to say about this special girl:
“Dolores is such a sweetheart! The first few days she was shy, but then started to come out of her shell, wag her tail and join our pack. She loves going on walks and is great on the leash. She also likes hiking and hanging out at the beach. She is housebroken and is fine at home during the day when we are at work. She gets along with our dog, Elsie, and is very good with “stranger” dogs at the dog run, going up to them gently and eager to meet new doggie friends."
We think Dolores is 12 years young, weighing about 50 lbs.
