Sunflower Potato (fka Jujubee)

Almost two years ago, we adopted our sweet little brown chihuahua, Sunflower Potato (fka Jujubee). We had lost our precious chihuahua, Poppy, at age 17 just one year before, and had spent that year very sad and lonely. We decided it was time to see if there was another chihuahua who needed us.

When we first met Sunflower at a Muttville adoption day, she had a mouth full of rotten teeth, was a 12-pound chunky monkey, and was pretty low-energy. She stole our hearts by climbing slowly into my lap and gingerly licking my face. We hadn’t been sure that we would take home a dog that day, but she convinced us!

Once her teeth were taken care of and she was no longer in pain (no teeth is better than rotten teeth!), her spicy personality began to come out. She has opinions about everything and we love that she is both a sweet Potato and a spicy Potato. Plus, she now has a permanent side-tongue, which is super adorable.

On a healthy diet of an appropriate amount of food, she lost almost half her body weight and is now a fit seven pounds. Even though she has a heart condition and kidney slowdown, she is very happy and active. We camp and hike a lot and Sunflower is a big fan of the outdoors. She will hike for hours, even though she has a backpack that she can ride in any time she wants to.

Sunflower Potato helped us learn how to be happy again. Thank you so much for bringing her into our lives and for all you do to find senior dogs new homes.

Sincerely,
Sarah, Eric, and Sunflower Potato
