I adopted Petunia in 2017 from Muttville.
I fell in love with her the instant I watched her video on the Muttville website and saw her ever so gently taking some treats. She was clearly feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything. Then, when I inquired about her, I found out that someone I knew was fostering her and I felt like it was destined that we find one another.
By all rights, it didn’t sound like Petunia had such a great life before coming to Muttville and she was a very, very shy girl afraid of just about everything—can you say scared of squirrels? With each passing day she slowly let her guard down and now she is the official neighborhood greeter. She loves everyone and every dog and she even sometimes loves the cats. She is my constant shadow, my nap buddy, and my all around sweetest friend. As I tell everyone she meets, Petunia is 100% sweetness.
The first photo is Petunia in her natural environment—wrapping herself up in a sweatshirt I’ve worn that I leave on the bed for her any time I have to go out without her. Hard to say if she likes the way the sweatshirt feels or if she wraps herself in it because it smells like me. No matter which it is, her presence in my life is 100% perfect and I’m so grateful that she was a Muttville dog! The second photo is her ride home from Muttville on her adoption day, still wearing her cone from her spay surgery.
The real beauty of Petunia is that she and I found one another and we get to spend every day together and whatever no so great things were a part of her life before, they are ancient history and for the rest of her days she will be a much loved, very treasured companion.
