On April 27, 2021 our beloved Sophie (Starla) passed away at the young age of 15 ½ years old. We heard about Sophie and Muttville after reading about her journey from a Los Angeles kill shelter to Muttville SF.
Her Muttville video captured our hearts, as she strutted around in a dress as if she was walking the runway. When Sophie was introduced to us we were told that she was not a lap dog but a very independent dog. Sophie blended in wonderfully with her siblings, Oliver, Lola and Tigger; she made it known that she was the oldest one with her barks when they began acting out. Sophie loved to strut around the house and especially loved to hop and run in the backyard like a bunny. Sophie had the best little bark, that she would let you know when it was time to go outside, to eat or just pay attention with her.
As time went on, Sophie became a lap dog, she would snuggle up with you and would pat you until you petted her. Sophie also had an alter ego that we discovered; she would become so sassy at times that when it would happen, we began to say “Sofia Loren has arrived”. Sophie was a gift to our home, especially her grandparents; she spent a lot of time with them and would scratch their bedroom door to be let in.
Sophie left a big hole in our hearts and we will miss her strutting down the hallway, bossing her siblings around, or just wanting to snuggle. Sophie will always be part of our home and hearts, we love you Sophie.
