My dog, Cielo, passed away on January 4, 2020. He was the first dog I had as an adult. Grieving the loss of Cielo was really hard and I really missed having a furry companion by my side. In February, I decided to look for another dog and my friend, Robin suggested I look into Muttville.
I went to the website and saw Wifi and set up a date for us to meet. I had been sick for a week and thought I was getting better, but on my way from Sebastopol to San Francisco I felt the need to stop in San Rafael to get some rest. When I got to Muttville, Wifi was at his foster’s but Kristen had another dog she thought I should meet named Hector.
Admittedly, it wasn’t love at first sight and I went home thinking that maybe I just wasn’t ready for another dog. Once I was feeling better later that week, I went back to the Muttville website to look at available dogs hoping I’d fall in love again. Somehow I ended up watching a video with Hector and Quin on YouTube. In the video, he jumps onto Quin’s arms and she holds him like a baby and he loves it!
I fell in love with him and called Muttville hoping Hector was still available. He was so I drove down to meet him again. I could sense that he was apprehensive and that the change was a lot for him, but with each passing day, he became more and more confident. Now he communicates with everyone he meets and asks for a treat or a scratch. Many clerks at stores even know him by name!
Hector is very social and loves being around other dogs and people. He gets really excited to visit friends and tries to pull me toward houses where his friends live. He loves to visit my daughter and is always excited to see her. My daughter says he’s the smartest dog she’s met.
He loves going to the dog park hour and gets excited when I say “doggy parkie”. He sits shotgun in the car and often leans his head on the seat and stares at me with his puppy eyes. He’s my everything, I love him so much.
Thank you, Muttville, for introducing Hector to me. I can’t imagine my life without him.
