We wanted to share an update on our sweet Dakota, who we adopted from Muttville in April 2018. While she faced some unexpected health issues very soon after we got her (cancerous tumor at the base of her tail, which led to a recommended tail amputation!), she recovered well and has been the love of our household since she got here. Our Dakota likes to go on walks at Crab Cove in Alameda; loves Point Isabel and the beach at Albany Bulb, where she gets to run around without a leash and socialize with other pups; and most of all loves to sniff and sniff and sniff anytime she’s on a walk (so walking takes a long time!). She gets many compliments on her “David Bowie eyes” (one brown and one blue) – some people think she’s blind in the blue eye, but she’s not!
When we first got Dakota (and before her surgery) she was an amazing jumper – even cleared our 6-foot fence in the backyard three days after we got her! After her surgery, she slowed down a lot (and gained a few pounds) but recently she’s been finding her jumping legs again – we’ve included a picture of her leaping just last week! She loves tummy rubs and pets, and being the center of attention – she demands more pets with persistent pawing and nudges our hands with her snout. When she’s happy, she makes the cutest part-snort/part-purr sound that sounds like “oon oon oon oon oon” so we call her Ooni. She’s a total cuddle bug and loves to lay close with us when we’re relaxing at home.
We are so grateful to Muttville for rescuing this girl from a shelter in Tulare County and helping us find her. She is the best!
