Lulu

Lulu

Hello friends at Muttville,

It is with the heaviest of hearts we are reaching out to you guys to let you all know our beautiful baby girl, Lulu (formerly Catelyn) crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. She was surrounded by all of us, in her favorite blanket. She passed peacefully in my arms, pinned to my chest, like she always was.

Thank you for giving her a chance. Thank you for helping us find each other. It’s the wonderful work you all do at Muttville that gives these beautiful babies the lives they deserve.

I wrote the following piece for her:

I’ve never felt such unconditional love for a little ball of fur (until you and Cleo).

We knew from the very beginning, when we adopted you that our time shared was going to be limited. But my dear Lulu, you were what we needed. In a perfect world we would’ve met you much, much sooner. We would’ve loved you as soon as you came into the world if we could. But it’s not up to us to decide when or how we meet each other. We could only be grateful that we did. We wanted to protect you, give you excess of everything. Toys, beds, treats and behind-the-ear rubs. And for the almost two years you gave us, We’re happy to say we were able to do that.

The love we wanted you to have in your golden years was the kind that you should have had for your life’s entirety. We hope you know it’s the same selfless love that understands when love alone cannot keep you here.

We love you more than you’ll ever know, my little shadow, my bed hog, my 7 pounds of sunshine. You’ve left this earth with a part of our hearts and your dad, sister and me will miss you everyday until we meet again. Safe travels over the rainbow bridge, baby mine.
