A note from Ricky’s adopters -
Ricky was a gorgeous apple-head fawn colored Chihuahua with large round dark eyes. He was so small and frail that I wanted to scoop him up and sit him in front of our fireplace so he could feel warm, content and safe. Our lives came together that evening last February and for the next almost 9 months were filled with Chihuahua joy. Ricky was much loved and taught us the wonders of living with Chihuahuas.
Ricky warmed my heart, my soul, my lap and my bed. He was intelligent, attentive, the best cuddle bug and always up for an outing. We had regular outings to the park, beach and neighborhood strolls. Always looking for the sunny spots and something good to sniff. Little Ricky thrived in Pacifica (even though he needed a coat year round). His nickname was “Ricky Ricardo the Latin Lover” and when he ran around the house he was “Ricky Henderson”.
We had always had bigger dogs so Chihuahua love was a new experience. But little Ricky was going to change us forever. There was a period of adjustment while Ricky taught me the importance of snuggling on the couch and sleeping in the bed at night. At first it was just one special night but it didn’t take long before he had charmed his way into the bed every night. He just loved it so much what else were we to do? Ricky was the best little companion. He just melted on my lap or next to me in the bed. I felt so warm, protected & loved.
Ricky’s charms won the heart of my husband who admired his confident ‘John Wayne’ strut on walks. Even though Ricky’s heart was very weak his spirit was very strong. He let everyone know his opinion sometimes greeting other dogs or people with a wag and sniff or sometimes just barking at them. I’m so glad we had our time together even though I wish we had more days ahead. The months we spent together were packed with a lust for life. Sadly Ricky passed away Tuesday November 6th, 2018 from heart disease.

Meet Ricky! The newest adorable Chihuahua here at Muttville!
Ricky is absolutely the sweetest senior! He loves meeting new people and will come right up to you and ask to sit in your lap. Be careful or you’ll get a face full of kisses! Ricky is also great with dogs of all sizes and is very outgoing. He originally came to us from a vet clinic after his owner dumped him and drove away, but Ricky doesn’t seem fazed at all…in fact, he couldn’t be happier to be at Muttville waiting for his new, loving family to find him!
Ricky is 13 years young and only weighs 6 pounds.
