Rebecca shares with us her ‘love at first sight’ story with Teddy:
I initially saw Teddy on the Muttville website at the beginning of February, 2015, and my gut told me that he was the dog for me, so I submitted an application for his adoption. Tawny, his awesome foster mom, contacted me, and we went back and forth for about a week before finally meeting each other at Muttville for a Saturday Meet-Our-Mutts event. It was love at first sight! I adopted Teddy that day and we bonded almost immediately.
Teddy has turned out to be the best thing that’s ever happened to me! We determined (by digging through his records) that he’ll be 10 years old in August. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Muttville, the SFSPCA was able to extract 10 rotten and decaying teeth from his mouth and uncovered an oronasal fistula that we’ll have to fix pretty soon. He’s an incredible companion – he’s young at heart, very spry and agile, loving, friendly, and hilarious! We’ve gotten to know lots of our neighbors thanks to the walks we take multiple times a day, and no one can believe he’s almost 10 years old. He’s also a great hiking companion.
I work nights as a nurse, so Teddy stays home alone when I work. According to my neighbors, he never barks when he’s home alone, and he’s even good about letting me sleep during the day, between shifts. He’s such a good sport. The nice thing about my schedule is that we spend most of our time together. He goes almost everywhere with me. I’m planning on doing further training with him, but I did manage to teach him how to sit!
I feed him very well and give him supplements for his arthritis, skin issues, and allergies. He’s spoiled rotten, just like he should be! He now sees Dr. Ana Apostol at the East San Rafael Veterinary Clinic, who is a fantastic vet. We’ve fallen into a nice routine.
The first is a recent photo of him following grooming. The second photo – the collage – (clockwise from top left) shows Teddy when I first brought him home; after his dental surgery; playing atop a carpet of wisteria flowers with my parents’ Westie, Corky; and shortly after having him groomed. The third photo is him lounging on the couch at home. You guys at Muttville are my heroes. Thanks for all you do, and thanks for connecting me with my best friend!
Best regards,
Rebecca
