Thank you Sue for sharing a bit of your wonderful life with Biscuit. And thanks to Biscuit for inspiring mom to become a Muttville foster home. Enjoy their story:
I rescued Biscuit in May 2014 to keep my 6 year old Cairn Terrier, Hercules, company. Hercules was a really choosy dog when it came to friends. So I took him with me to meet Biscuit at the SF Heaquarters. When Hercules met Biscuit, he immediately went front paws down, “butt” up into a play position so I knew we had found the right girl for him.
Arriving home, I took Biscuit into my large back yard. When I put her down on the deck she jumped for joy with her paws up. Then she ran out onto the large lawn area and joyfully ran in giant circles as though she had found heaven.
That evening, after putting her in her crate, I got into my bed. Suddenly I felt a small thump, and she was wiggling way under the covers to snuggle against my back. She has been sleeping with me ever since.
I am so fortunate to have found Biscuit. She is fantastic with very small children and other dogs, although she does bark at the big ones. She gets along well with my son’s German Shepherd who stays with us when he travels.
Unfortunatey my little Hercules died a few months ago from cancer, so now Biscuit is an only “child”. To provide her with some canine companionship I am planning to take in Muttville Foster Dogs who need a home where they can get the medical care they need to get healthy enough to find their forever families.
As a Senior I especially appreciated the Senior for Senior’s program. Taking on the expense of another dog was daunting enough with out having to pay a large rescue fee up front. I wanted to rescue a dog at least as old as my Cairn, and Muttville provided the financial incentive to go with a Senior dog.
