Holiday cheer this week with Success Story Lonny! Thanks to Tracy and Richard for this happy holiday tale. Enjoy!
Lanny, re-named Lonny, was our Valentine’s gift. Adopted on February 13, 2014, he is the love of our lives.
Lonny is the happiest and friendliest of dogs. He greets people with an enormous smile, and he he doesn’t just wag his tail…he wags his entire body. His mellow, sweet, and jovial nature have made him a neighborhood favorite. He is greeted with a smile and a hug by everyone he meets, including the little boy who lives down the street, who smashes into him and cries “Pillow!”
Lonny comes to work with me nearly every day where he’s also a workplace favorite. My co-workers greet him every morning like Norm from “Cheers”. He spends his days moseying from desk to desk hanging out with his human friends, attending all my meetings with me, and playing with all the other dogs who come to the office.
Lonny’s shelter paperwork indicated that he was 130 lbs when he arrived at Muttville. With a target weight of 90 lbs, Lonny had some work to do to get healthy. After months of medical care, proper diet, and a much more active lifestyle, Lonny is now just under 100 lbs and still losing weight. The change has been remarkable. When we first brought him home, he could barely stand up and could only walk a short distance before needing a rest. Now he takes 2 mile walks! He runs, cavorts, scampers, and swims.
Lonny has many hobbies.
• Swimming. In any body of water. If he can fit in it (or even if he can’t fit in it), he’ll be in there, splashing around.
• Chasing squirrels.
• Fetching tennis balls.
• Cramming himself into places he’ll never fit in.
• Pretending to object to the cat.
• Stealing food off the counter, or right out of people’s hands! (He’s fast!)
• Chillin’ in a shady grassy patch.
• Making friends everywhere he goes.
Thank you, Muttville, for doing everything you do for these beautiful, sweet old dogs. I am so happy that Lonny found his way into my life. He makes me smile every single day.
