Bernie

With a heavy heart, Barbara let us know her little Bernie had crossed the rainbow bridge. We appreciate Barbara sharing with us their love story:

Bernie

Bernie was not the dog of my dreams. Affection illicited a respectable Satan impersonation. He never gave up on trying to train me how to walk on a leash. His barking could create an earthquake 2.5 richter scale reading.

Yet I remember the moment we knew we were bounded by love. It was a soft gaze on the way to the vet. He accepted and trusted me as his human.

Aside from his looks, Bernie did have his charm. Even in the last days every walk out the door began with a courtesy, song and dance.

The walk to the park was enthusiastic. Bernie was not a partying kind of guy. His public demeanor was more Zen-like. He enjoyed the feel of wind creating waves on his long golden coat. He had a way of walking around the park study everything and everyone in a quiet, thoughtful manner.

Muttville gave me over five years that were blessed with Bernie.

Despite our “issues”, wherever you are today I need to say, “You’re the best. You really are the best. I love you. I really do love you.”
