We’re saddened by the news that Lovey (formerly Lovely Lambchop) has passed away.
Beautiful words from her mama Gail:
I loved Lovey the minute I saw her in the Christmas storefront for Muttville 2 3/4 years ago….wearing a red sweater…We lost Lovey last week. I never expected she would live even that long. How could anyone love a dog as much as I loved that little dog? I have no idea….It was beyond words. I never even looked at dogs like her, only shih tzus…
She was very senior when we got her. 17 maybe? When she had trouble standing up, we figured it was time. She passionately loved her food (and I finally got the food right thanks to Dr. Adam) and her beds. She was a warrior dog. She would have kept going if I let her….falling and getting up….There was no stopping her. In the beginning, she was found in a ditch bleeding from all her orifices….(can’t imagine that she was even outside by herself and lived).Rescued as a stray and thank goodness for Muttville who took her and for Marie and Russell who fostered her, took care of her when she was sick and nursed her back to life.
She would do laps around the house till she was fed or would get under your feet so you knew she was waiting for her food. No walking on a leash for her. Not a lapdog. Not her style. Maybe she would last 5 minutes with you. Not a mean bone in that dogbody. I think they call it equipoise (in human terms)
She was very much here and now she is not. There is a huge void now. But her soul will linger with me forever…..
In the words of Chet Baker:
“Yes, I may dream a million dreams,
But how can they come true,
If there will never ever be another you….”
