Meet Founder, a very special boy who likes to relax, be handsome, and treat all dogs and people with gentleness and respect. A stair-free home would be perfect for this slow-going sweetheart. After all, who’s got time for all that climbing? Founder has a nice big Border Collie brain, so if you don’t possess a flock of sheep in need of tending you can put him in charge of managing your remote controls.
This dog is hospice due to the following medical conditions: arthritis and limited mobility.
Here’s some notes from his foster:
I know Founder is billboarded on the website as a ‘hospice’ mutt, but he actually has been improving over the last couple of weeks. I think it’s because he’s settling in. He still sleeps most of the time but he is willing to take a short walk every evening and can now navigate stairs on his own.
He’s a sweet, super-mellow, quiet, old dog. I have a big backyard in Benicia, which he appreciates. The first half-hour he was here, he just stood and stared at a big acacia tree (see photo). I’ve noticed that he frequently blisses out – just lies down wherever he happens to be and gets dreamy-eyed. I think this is a symptom of his age, not his drug usage.
One of the attached photos is of us two old fellows pondering, with humor, the limits of our mortality. Another photo is of him gobbling down a 25-lb box of Just Food for Dogs; he really likes his meals and his MilkBone treats.
He also likes very short, very slow walks. There have been no potty accidents.
He is one of the most accommodating, agreeable mutts I’ve ever met.
