Are you on the path to crabby disgruntlement and persistent discontent? It’s time for a detour! We suggest you try ours. Detour is a natty chi with soulful eyes and a first-rate character. He loves all dogs and people with a kind of open-hearted optimism we hope one day to attain. His long legs and velveteen ears are also enviable, as is his youthful agility and very-good-boy demeanor. Meet this lovely chap and discover your roadmap to hope and glory. No gas money necessary.

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Do you ever feel like you’re at a crossroads and have to choose between a sweet snuggly senior, and a fun playful puppy? Guess what: You can simply take a Detour, as in adopting Detour! Detour loves food, playtime, and affection, it is hard to determine which is his favorite! This silly sweetheart loves to burrow up next to you, get all the belly rubs, and lounge. But he also has a huge playful personality that likes to run (fast!), jump around, play with toys, and adventure with all the walkies you want! He loves his people HARD, and looks at you with the cutest soulful eyes that take up most of his tiny adorable face. My four year old niece visited for the weekend and he is SO good with her. They had so much fun playing with toys, racing each other, and then winding down for a disney movie and snuggles. He was perfectly fine with her picking him up and loved sharing his toys with her. He lives for walk time, and gets so excited when I bring out the leash, doing the cutest little hops and rolls around in excitement. He would do great with a family that has a lot of energy and love to give.

Detour seems perfectly potty trained now. He does have guard dog tendencies, and will bark if someone knocks at the door, or if he hears someone in the hallway. He may be a little barky to new guests at first, but within minutes he will be up in their laps soaking up all the love they want to give. He does have some leash reactivity, but we have been working on “leave it” with positive reinforcement on walks. Since he is very food motivated, and smart, it is going really well! He also does well co-existing with my dog, but since they have very different temperaments they haven’t interacted much. I have been having so much fun with Detour, he is such a cutie that makes me laugh daily, and is one of the best snugglers I have fostered! He will make a great addition to any family that is looking for a good balance of love and play!
