Ophelia (fka Hydra)

Hello Muttville Friends,

I wanted to share an update on one of your pups that my family adopted in May 2025.

When we came into your facility in May, we were unsure if we were going to leave with a pup since we had two dogs at home. But we quickly fell in love with Hydra, who attached herself to my husband immediately. It was clear that she picked us to be her new family.

We renamed her Ophelia and she immediately gained a fur brother and sister and human brother and sister who loved and adored her. We gave her the best life we could while she was with us. Lots of treats, fancy food, fancy haircuts, and fancy outfits! She traveled to the beaches of Carmel, Santa Cruz and all over SF and the east bay.

Sadly she crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday in her sleep, she had started a fight with heart issues in December. We tried to prolong her life as much as possible and had her on heart medication and a diuretic for the past three months.

Her last weekend on Earth was the best – we took her to the beach in Alameda and she got a pup cup and ate lots of human food (even with her having no teeth!)

All this to say, we are so thankful for what you do at Muttville. Although my family is heartbroken that we didn’t get more time with her, we are so thankful we got the time we did and gave our little elderly girl a great last couple of months in her golden years. She was so loved by so many!

I just know she is eating lots of popcorn and blueberries in doggie heaven! Here are some photos of her adventures with us!
