When we started our search to add a dog to our family, we were looking for these qualities:

- Gets along with our two cats
- Gets along with our elementary-aged kids
- Can climb stairs
- Has no separation anxiety (my husband and I are both teachers)
Muttville’s team was incredibly communicative, kind, and patient with us as we went back and forth for months, searching for the best mutt for our family. On 12/14/24, we adopted our newest family member, 10-year-old Dug (fka Doug). Dug had lived with his previous family for 9 years before being surrendered to Muttville because his owner was moving out of state. Lucky for us, he was everything we were looking for! We kept his name, originally spelled Doug, because he knew it, but changed the spelling so it wouldn’t be quite so human!
Dug has adjusted wonderfully to our home. He gets along well with our kids and cats (although he was definitely a bit nervous around our cats for the first week or so), and he loves to play just as much as he loves to sleep. He’s been doing great—snoozing at home with the cats during our workdays and enjoying long walks and trips to the dog park in Golden Gate Park. He loves to rub his face and body all over our carpets after each walk and meal. We get alerted each time someone walks through the front door, and he makes a big show of welcoming us home by running around the house with a toy in his mouth.
Dug has been a great addition to our family, and we look forward to hopefully many more years to come. Thank you, Muttville, for all the amazing work you do!
