Focaccia and Petra roam the beaches of Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro! Click on the images below to follow their story, described below!
In January 2019, we were living in a small apartment in San Francisco and had just adopted our second Muttville dog, Petra. She had recently been returned to Muttville after six years because her previous owners were not able to bring her with them when they moved into an assisted living facility.
So, after a very short fostering period, we adopted her into our home. Classic foster fail. She was 12 years old when we adopted her.
Next was Focaccia. In May of 2020, we caught a glimpse of Focaccia on the Muttville website and quickly requested more information. Shortly after, Focaccia moved in with Petra.
We then moved to Lafayette, CA and into a home with more space and a backyard. The dogs loved the new yard and spent their days bathing in the sun.
After a year in Lafayette, we packed everything up again and drove across the country to Miami, FL. We spent almost two weeks driving across the country, stopping for bathroom breaks and snacks. We pulled into Miami and the dogs started their new Miami life.
After just over a year in Miami, we packed everything up again to move to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After a few vet appointments and paperwork, we boarded an American Airlines flight and arrived in Rio the next day.
The dogs are now settled into their new Brazilian life. We do daily walks along the Lagoa and often times walk to the beach where they stroll along the iconic Ipanema stone sidewalks, often stopping to take in the sounds, smells, and movements of the Brazilian beach life. And, just like their life in the US, they continue to spend most of their days sleeping and barking at deliveries. Petra is almost 17 and Focaccia is 14.
