We first spied “uncle Sam” as an Amazon rep on Muttville. He was living with Volunteer Nicole H. who filled us in on all his particulars. We promptly brought our maltese Beene to meet Sam and they went for a walk together and got along famously. We celebrate 3 years together on July 15!
He was shy at first at and followed Beene everywhere. He was nervous around other people and would hide behind me his new “mom.” He exhibited signs of possible previous abuse and we went to loving on him at all times and never stressed him. Our neighbors are all “dog people” and started carrying treats. Sammy now eagerly greats all the neighbors for scratches, treats and love. He is happy gregarious and has even grown to love a car ride meaning we are going somewhere or doing something fun! (He would lie down and pee a bit on initial rides and was very afraid of the car).
He now enjoys hiking (sometimes in a pack), boating, travel and playing with his basket of toys. He has brought us so much joy.
We love our muttville mutt and cannot thank you enough for rescuing him so he could find his furever home with us.
