Bernard

Moving on after the loss of a pet is hard on every family member, including the other furry kids. Janet and her family pets decided to give a chance to one lucky dog:

Bernard

We had a two dog and three cat household and everything was good. The two dogs had been together for almost their entire lives. Then a little over a year ago one of the dogs, Milo, developed heart disease. And in spite of the best care we could provide he passed away in August.

We had no intention of getting another dog but Dobby, the remaining dog, was visibly lonely and upset after Milo passed. We knew finding a dog that fit into our family would be difficult. With one 11 year old dog and 3 cats from 3 to 8 years old finding a dog that would get along with everyone seemed like a tall order.

After looking long and hard we stumbled upon Muttville and realized a senior dog was just what we needed. We browsed the adoptable dogs and for some reason Bernard just jumped out at us. He was in a foster near where we live so arranged a meeting between Dobby and Bernard and have never looked back.

Bernard instantly won our hearts and over the last two months has become fully integrated into the family. He’s smart, funny, loving and a good companion to Dobby.

I sing the praises of senior dog rescue to anyone I can. Even the cats have stopped hissing at him! Muttville you rock ❤️
