Rita 3218

A great story attesting to the health benefits of having a senior dog! Read Gina’s accounting of her life with Rita so far:

Rita 3218

I adopted Rita on September 26, 2015. I can’t wait to see her in the next 3000 on the Wall of Fame! Recently, Rita’s vet told me that she needed a dental and more extractions, which meant putting her under at her age and taking even more of her teeth :( I had to run a GoFundMe in order to get her surgery done, because at this time I had some other personal issues arise that made finances very difficult. I am so happy-my friends and family and even people I hadn’t seen in quite a while donated and Rita has her dental scheduled for the end of this month. In honor of this success, I would like to share her story with you and hopefully make it on the Success Story Wall!

After enduring an umbilical hernia, mouth infections, fleas, alopecia, and luxating patella on the streets of San Jose, undergoing wonderful treatment and love at Muttville, and now stablizing in my home with great vet help, Rita is healthy and happy! Her coat grew out so much that she looks like a fluff ball. She LOVES food and is really starting to show her personality-she truly is a “fiery redhead” as her original Muttville description warned me of…

She entered my life at a difficult time and has had an indescribable impact on my own health and well-being, so I try to do the same for her every day. She is a senior – gotta respect your elders! ;) She is registered as a psychiatric assistance animal so she is able to join me almost everywhere I go, having adventures – she’s been to Florida (Epcott Center, so really she’s been around the entire world), San Diego, and several times to Pasadena to visit with her grandparents and extended fam. She has driven up and down the California coast on the 101 between San Francisco and Los Angeles – her favorite places are Avila Beach and Casa de Fruta. She is even going camping with me this summer, and to Lake Tahoe. She comes with me to work and brings smiles to all of my coworkers and friends. It is even a pleasure just to see people I pass on the street, see on the bus, or meet in taxis light up because she’s just so CUTE.

She has SO many nicknames, here are a few: Rita Monster, RitaBear, Bäarchen, Meter Maid, Gilda, Morsilla, Molé, Bicho, etc.

I wish I could share even more pictures with you of her on all of her adventures… But for now, here are some of our favorites! (photographs above)
