Pippy

Perfect match? I think you will agree after you read Pippy’s success story, as told by her mom Sharon. Enjoy!

Pippy

We just wanted to share with you how fantastic it’s been to have Pippy with us these last couple of weeks, and to let you know how grateful we are for the work you do. We realize it hasn’t been very long that she’s been with us, but she adapted so quickly and seamlessly to her new “forever home” that we could have written this two days after she got here.

We found Pippy on our second visit to Muttville, during one of your weekend adoption events. As soon as we arrived, one of your volunteers picked her up and put her in my arms. She just relaxed and nestled right in there – we were smitten! In fact, she was so relaxed I was a little concerned that she might not be very energetic. So, before we got too attached, I insisted that we go upstairs and meet some of the other pooches available for adoption. We did that, and met some awesome mutts, but my husband kept asking, “What about Pippy?” Apparently, it was too late for him! She has already stolen his heart. So, eventually, we made our way back downstairs and decided to take her for a walk. Well, any concerns we had about her lack of energy were immediately erased! As soon as we got the leash on her she perked right up and started off at a terrific clip, barking at birds, taking care of her business in a no nonsense manner and, frankly, giving us a run for our money. Those little legs move awfully fast! When we took her back and upstairs to the loft and she settled in again, resting her head on my leg, I was done for as well. We made the decision right there and then, took the next couple of days to prepare for her arrival, and then brought her home.

It was the best decision ever. Pippy is an absolute joy to be with. She’s goofy, ridiculous, loving and so, so sweet. She loves to socialize and she’s quickly becoming a popular fixture in our neighborhood. We walk – a lot! (If you want to get fit, get a dog!) And we lounge, play with her favorite squeaky toys, and she’s really taken to dining al fresco with us – we think she’s becoming quite the foodie.

Muttville did a great job getting her healthcare back on track, providing baths and antibiotics for her skin infection. That’s all cleared up now and she received an almost clean bill of health from her new vet, Dr. Taylor at Healthy Pets on West Portal, Though she does need to visit the dentist, so she’s getting her teeth cleaned in a couple of weeks, using a non-anesthetic process that they offer. She loves her new groomer, Justine at The Pawbershop (also on West Portal), who she sees every Wednesday, and she has fun at CitiPets Playground for daycare when we have to leave her for any lengthy period of time. We’re also working on some basic training with Maureen Backman and that’s going really well – Maureen is great and Pippy’s picking it all up very quickly! It’s the treats; she loves treats. So, she’s spoiled, for sure, but that’s the way it should be.

The work you do is incredible, and we’re very proud to be Mutt Guardians now, and a part of the Muttville community. Thanks again, and woofs and wags!

In gratitude,
Sharon Kittredje, Kishore and Pippy (aka, The Pipster)
