Cupcake, the 4 lb Wonder Mutt

Our hearts always break when we hear of the passing of a Muttville alumni. Mom Josie helps us to smile and laugh despite her loss. She shared with us her sweet memories of her gal, Cupcake:

Cupcake, the 4 lb Wonder Mutt

Itty, bitty, Old Lady Extraordinaire, Love of my Life blonde edition, Cupcake, the 4 pound wonder mutt, has sailed across The Rainbow Bridge. Despite her physical challenges and medical issues, my girl was a champ! She was a silly little sweetheart with ideas of her own and heart that defied the size of her physical being.

Over the past year or so, her fave place to be was with me; on me, next to me, looking for me, snuggling with me. I love the way she loved me and will treasure the place she owns in my soul forever. She slept on my chest, resting her adorable face on my neck, whispering secrets of the day to me as we drifted off to sleep, our heartbeats in sync, as close to being one that’s possible.

She had admirers all around who were taken by her cuteness while being pushed around in her buggy or playing in the grass down at the park. I’m not the only one around here missing everything about her either. Although they search with less frenzy as time marches on, her mutt friends here still look for her in the comfy spots where she liked to nap.

I am thankful beyond measure for the years of having the privilege of being her Mama and always, always, always to Sherri for saving her that began our journey here together.

A couple of days after her teeny body had had enough, there was a brilliant rainbow in the sky that I believe was her, letting me know she was really out there, somewhere over the rainbow, back to bouncing around freely on all 4 legs, no longer burdened with breast cancer or tumors growing on her head or any of it really, her mission here complete. That she knew what it was to be treasured & loved like crazy after who knows what, gives me some peace.

To quote her fellow Muttviller, Danny Boy, whose Bark-It List continues to inspire us:
“Short time, Long time as long as it’s a Good time!”
