Meet Waistcoat, the ultimate pup-pal in search of a best friend! This sweet senior is all about making new doggy buddies—he wags, he sniffs, and he’s always ready for a fun playdate. Whether it’s a game of gentle chase or just lounging side by side, Waistcoat is happiest with a furry friend by his side. He’s got a heart as warm as his cozy name suggests, and he’s looking for a home where he can share his love. A little playful, a little snuggly, and a whole lot of adorable, Waistcoat is the perfect companion for you!
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Waistcoat lives up to his name as he is always a perfect little gentleman! It has been a pleasure having him as our guest. He has a great appetite and is treat-motivated. It would be easy to train him to do simple commands because he’s also smart. He loves long walks and will take the lead on 30-40 minutes twice a day. If he needs to go out he stands near the door and makes a little chirping noise. It’s adorable!
He enjoys getting attention from humans of all shapes, sizes, and ages. He especially loves my teenage daughter. Waistcoat gets along great with my resident dog, has met dogs big and small while on-leash and has zero reactivity. He’s the quietest chihuahua I’ve ever encountered. He only barks if he needs help going up our stairs and makes his chirps when he needs to potty.
He goes to bed around 10 pm and sleeps through the night until 7am or so. He likes to sleep on a dog bed on the floor next to the human bed. He would 100% love to sleep IN the human bed if he was allowed.
He is fine being left alone in the house for a few hours at a time and takes it as an opportunity to catch up on his napping. He likes car rides and will happily sit in the front seat on a little pillow so he can see out the window.
He struggled a little going UP our slippery bare wood stairs but has no problem on the carpeted stairs or outside steps. Going down is easy on all the stairs. He also surprised me by jumping right up onto the couch to snuggle. He’s very spry and agile for a 14-year old mutt!
He doesn’t mind being picked up and carried when necessary; in fact he seems to kind of like it. He’s a blepper! There’s always a little bit of pink tongue poking out of his mouth. One of his ears stands straight up and the other folds right in half. It’s hilarious.
It’s almost hard to believe so much sweetness could be packed into such a little dog! He will make one lucky family very happy when he finds his forever home where he can find a comfy spot to give and take love and snuggles.
