If you thought Nicole Kidman was great in the role, you’re going to love our Virginia Woolf, a dinky chi in an eccentric coat who pulls off the likeness without a fake nose. Tiny and thoughtful, she’s an energetic investigator of life’s mysteries as they are experienced very close to the ground. She does fine with other dogs, 99.9 percent of whom are bigger than her; and people are one of her favorite modes of transportation. (She walks just dandy but loves the hugs and the altitude.) All that said, you’ll want to take her home as soon as you see her eyebrows.
Here’s some notes from her foster:
At our house, Virginia Woolf mostly goes by Ginny and oh my she has been an absolute delight to foster! Sweet, petite and surprisingly spry for her age…Ginny could almost convince you she is actually a puppy with a pearly eye. She fit herself into our little “pack” with ease, mostly just ignoring the other small dogs and cats (and the rabbit who I’m not even sure she clocked as a real animal). She doesn’t really seek out the company of the other pets; she’s a people dog for sure! But as long as the other animals are respectful, she doesn’t mind sharing the people.
Ginny is an excellent work from home buddy as she’ll either curl up on your lap or in a bed near your desk and nap for most of the day. She’s very quiet…I don’t think I’ve heard her bark at all yet (even when other dogs are barking).
She enjoys exploring outside and meandering, but isn’t really a “go for a walk” kind of gal. I think she’s used to being carried because she has a habit of just deciding that she’s all done on a walk and just stopping and staring at you until you give in and pick her up. She is great in the car and just settles into her carseat for a nap while you drive. And when left home alone she just naps quietly. But when you get home, get ready for some silly little dancing and jumping on you because she’s just so excited to be reunited. We’re still figuring out her best potty routine, but I think she’ll be house trained quickly with just a little help!
Ginny’s silly comes out when she smells a snack. She does little tippy tappy dances and climbs all over trying to figure out where the treat is. She even got into the cookie tin (quite literally, she opened a little metal cookie tin with her mouth!!). She loves her food and gobbles it up joyfully. She eats alongside my other dogs (supervised) but can only have higher value treats if she is in her own space because she doesn’t like to share them (valid, I don’t like sharing my snacks either Ginny!!)
She is agile and can climb onto the back of the couch and walks the stairs to get up to our condo even though she’s pretty small. And she doesn’t just tolerate dress up, she actually gets so excited when she sees me take out a sweater or onesie. Such a funny little girl that we’re happy to love on until she finds her forever match.
