Meet Van Howlin, the legendary rockstar of the dog park! With a name that howls back to the golden days of Van Halen, this senior pup brings classic charm and a mellow groove. He may take a minute to warm up (like any true artist before a performance), but once he’s in the zone, he’s all about good vibes, tail wags, and furry friendships. When he’s not out on a stroll working on his next big hit, you can catch him sunbathing like the rock royalty he is… fluff in the wind, soaking up the spotlight (or just the sunshine). Whether he’s howlin’ at the moon or just chilling in the grass, Van’s got that timeless cool.
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Van Howlin is a very well behaved, adorable little fur baby. He has adjusted well to his new environment and schedule. Whenever we pet him he gives kisses. He is potty trained and has never had any accidents. He sleeps well through the night.
He likes to go on his walks around the neighborhood, and is easy to handle on a lead. He is not aggressive when he meets other dogs, but he will sometimes try to have a conversation with them. It stops as soon as we continue on our way.
VH has no problem being left alone. He just goes to one of his beds and naps until we return home. We have left him for hours, and he uses the doggy door to go out back to relieve himself.
After his bath, and towel drying he suddenly gets as frisky as a two year old. He runs up & down the hallway, between my husband and me, getting pets from us like it’s a game. It’s so unexpected and fun to watch him.
VH does not enjoy riding in the car. He gets agitated, and pants heavily. So far the best solution has been to use a crate. He is still anxious, but it keeps him from getting tangled in a doggy seat belt and pacing.
His appetite is very hearty. He hangs around the kitchen hoping for food, and follows us around if we are carrying food. Basically he is a low maintenance fellow who keeps to himself.
