Do you prefer your trousers high waisted or low rise? How about long-bodied, foxy and cute? Meet our Trousers, who’s sure to never go out of style and always be flattering. He goes with everything! Trousers loves a cozy bed, gentle pets and strolls.
Here’s a note from his foster!
Trousers is settling in well and is a quiet companion content to waddle around the house a bit before snoozing on his bed throughout the day.
He does well on car rides, in elevators, up and down 1-2 small stairs, and on leash. He will need some help up taller stairs and in/out of the car. We haven’t had an accident yet inside, so he appears to be house trained and hasn’t been too picky about where he goes to the bathroom outside.
Trousers hasn’t barked inside, even when we can hear other dogs barking outside or when we’ve left him for an hour or so alone. We think he’d do well when left alone longer, but haven’t tested this yet. The most noise he’s made is content little noises when he gets belly rubs and behind-the-ear scratches! He doesn’t like his nose or mouth area touched, but he also doesn’t bite or growl.
It’s been a bit challenging putting on his harness as he doesn’t seem to like something approaching his head from the front, so we tend to leave it on unless absolutely necessary to remove it. If you scratch behind his ears and put on his harness over his head from behind, he does much better.
Trousers is an early riser, but will settle back for a quick nap if he doesn’t find anyone to engage. He’s a little discerning with his food, but we’re working on finding something he will devour. I noticed that he licks his food, so we’ve only tried wet food at this time. Trousers takes his medicine well with some peanut butter.
On walks, Trousers greets other dogs of all sizes, isn’t aggressive, and doesn’t react to barkers or excitable dogs at all. He may actually be a little hard of hearing! We vacuumed all around him as he was lounging on his bed, totally unaffected. By the way, Trousers doesn’t shed!
In terms of his activity level, he doesn’t need long walks, but he does enjoy ambling along and sniffing all the smells in the fresh air. He gets a ton of compliments on his walks and everyone loves seeing Trousers! With his arthritis, his last late night outing (mostly to go to the bathroom) is a little more sedate. He’s done well meeting young toddlers and new people. In a few days, Trousers will be groomed, so we’ll see how he does with that. We have already washed his legs and feet at home, and he’s been calm and super easy in the bathtub and with the blow dryer.
Over all, Trousers is the perfect companion and the cutest little fox! He will need a little help from you to get around, but will be a quiet and supportive presence when you need it most.
