This adorable chihuahua is pawsitively ready to find her forever home! This white and brown cutie is a true gem, with long legs that make her a champion fetch player, big bat ears that never miss a squeak, and a long, sleek snout that give her the cutest little doe face! Despite her age, Trinket has a heart full of youthful spirit and is eager to be by your side for neighborhood walks. Bring this little Trinket into your world and watch as she transforms your days into a treasure trove of joy and wagging tails!
Here are some great initial notes from her foster family:
After 24 hours with Trinket, we have some exciting things to report about her!
Overall: Trinket is a total sweetheart who loves to walk, cuddle, and roll over for pets and is genuinely the easiest dog we have ever lived with!
Potty, walking, and eating habits
Trinket is completely potty trained and has not had a single accident inside. She is very efficient outside but does take some time to finish her business, as we think her muscles down below are weaker. She also may be a little leaky (drop or two occasionally) from the muscles but still TBD.
She loves walks!! If you tell her we’re going for a walk, she immediately tippy taps and jumps in excitement. She can walk for 10 blocks pretty well (that’s the max we have tested but believe she can definitely go further); although, she comes hot out of the gate and then slows down a few blocks in.
She is totally capable of going up our single flight of stairs and we believe she could do more.
She is also mostly comfortable with the city streets; although, loud noises startle her occasionally, but she recovers quickly. We have not yet taken her to the park but believe she would love it.
She is fully leash trained.
She was a picky eater when we first got her, but we realized that she prefers kibble over soft food. After switching to softened kibble, she ate 3/4 of a 1/4 cup of food, which was a big improvement.
Energy Levels
Trinket has moderate to high energy levels for her age. She will almost immediately nap after a walk, but she will get into playful moods when she gets the occasional spurt of energy (~2-3x a day) before burrowing under a blanket and taking another nap.
Likes and Dislikes
We haven’t seen anything that Trinket dislikes, but as mentioned before, she can get startled by the occasional loud noise but quickly recovers.
She loves walking and meeting most new dogs (runs up to them on the street).
Other Dogs and Animals
She gets along very well with other dogs. She is a little shy at first, but she has been getting on well with our other chihuahua-mix. She has not encountered other animals, so we cannot speak to that.
Misc.
She is completely quiet – has not barked, whimpered, growled, etc. once since we’ve gotten her.
She slept through the night easily in a burrowing bed next to our bed.
