Spinach

#13242
Pomeranian
Male
17 lbs (small)
Status: Adopted

Spinach is a confident and active senior Pomeranian with a fabulous tail that swishes like he owns every sidewalk he struts down. He’s got the kind of energy that defies his age, always ready to head out for a walk, sniff every corner, and explore like it’s his full-time job. Friendly with other dogs and sweet with people, Spinach has a magnetic charm that draws others in. He’s like that grandpa who didn’t get the memo that it’s wise to slow down and instead shows up with a toolbox the moment he hears about a possibly leaky roof, eager to help and full of stories. His self-assured nature makes him a natural leader in any dog group, and his zest for life is contagious. Spinach isn’t just aging gracefully, he’s rewriting the rules of senior doghood with flair and determination.

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Spinach is such a wonderful little charmer and a real joy to have around. He is quiet, doesn’t bark at people, is a bit shy but easy to handle. He tolerates being picked up and since he has trouble with long flights of stairs, we sometimes carry him up and down. We would recommend a house on one level or one without too many stairs.

He walks well on the leash, loves to go for brisk walks and easily does 30 minutes or more. Seems like he may be afraid of other dogs so we usually pick him up and walk past other dogs on walks. With potty training, he is still adapting to our schedule and is trying his best. We are still learning his cues to let us know when he needs to go out. We take him out frequently and always go on one last trip outside around 9:30pm and then he sleeps with us through the night. He likes to be near us and will curl up on a blanket where ever we are. We had friends over and he was very behaved – didn’t beg at the table and just fell asleep at our feet in the dining room. We haven’t quite figured what he likes to eat but we’re working on it.

He doesn’t do stairs well, he can do 3-4 stairs easily but barks at longer flights of stairs so we carry him up and down. He would do best with a one level house/apartment.

He’s such a people pleaser and we melt when he looks up at us with those trusting big brown eyes. He is such a sweetheart!
