Shiggy Shiggy she’s our gal…if she can’t do it noone can!

Shiggy is a very special little lady! Although Shiggy cannot see, she doesn’t seem to mind one bit! She is a little go getter and really loves to sniff her way around to meet all the people and dogs around her! She can often be found in someone’s lap, or making new mutt friends. She loves to snuggle and nap with another dog or two or three! She is a true gem! We all have fallen in love with her and know that you will too. Again, she is a very special little mutt. Come meet Shiggy today!

Shiggy is estimated to be 9 years young and weighs about 8 lbs.

Here are some great notes from Shiggy’s foster family:

Shiggy is such a tender and cuddly little gal. Of all of our past foster dogs, she is the kindest one, and I’ve never trusted a dog so quickly. From the very first night she was all about nuzzling our faces together and giving little kisses. She is mostly blind, but that doesn’t stop this smart cookie from exploring and mentally mapping out the place. She basically has superhero hearing too. She comes right to you when you call out to her.

Shiggy is a pretty laid back gal that likes to observe from afar, but also doesn’t hesitate to check out anything interesting. If you show her a leash or harness (which she is somehow able to see,) she loses her mind with excitement! She’s a slow walker, and definitely loves checking everything out, but once she trusts you and realizes it is a faster walk, she can go relatively quickly…well, for a blind gal. I try to take her out 4-5 times a day. Still, she tends to just sleep most of the time and cycles through a variety of little snores.

She is great with other dogs. She likes to give a little sniff here and there, but usually doesn’t pay other dogs much mind. I’ve never seen her teeth come out, except if I see her yawn. Super sweet.

We haven’t had the opportunity to try her out with cats or anything, but I can’t imagine she’d have a problem with any living thing.

Shiggy is pretty fearless. This can be annoying to our dog, especially when Shiggy thinks they should share a bed. Our dog usually just finds another bed. Loud noises outside (like trucks driving by) make her pause for a few seconds, but she doesn’t seem afraid…just a little careful.

When we got Shiggy, she seemed pretty housebroken. We started training her to use pee-pads as well, in case her forever-home wouldn’t be able to take her out as much. She learned those pretty quickly and only misses occasionally now.

Shiggy has so many quirky little qualities. When you pet her, it’s like she hasn’t been pet for months. She gets this little grin and your hand is the greatest invention ever. If you’re lucky, she’ll just roll onto her back for some belly rubs. If a sunbeam is available, it will be taken by your favorite neighborhood Shiggy. She is such a chilled out little dog and we already love her so much!
