Scrunchie

Scrunchie

#12708
Chihuahua, Short Coat
Female
11 lbs (small)
Status: Adopted

Scrunchie is a delightful Chihuahua mix with a youthful spirit that defies her senior status. Though she may be a bit shy at first, once she warms up, she’s all about love and adventure. With more pep in her step than most pups her age, Scrunchie would thrive in an active home where she can enjoy plenty of walks and playtime. She prefers gentle handling and will appreciate a patient adopter who lets her come out of her shell at her own pace. Not only is Scrunchie full of charm, but she also has perfect ears and a lovely underbite that makes her even more endearing. If you’re looking for a small but spirited companion with a winning smile, Scrunchie just might be the perfect match!

Here’s some notes from her foster:

Scrunchie, is a Chihuahua mix with a heart-melting underbite and ears that perk up at the sound of your voice. Even though she spent time as a stray, this little lady knows “sit” and “go to your bed” – she’ a pro!

Scrunchie is thriving in her foster home, where she:

Twirls with excitement at mealtime

Burrows under blankets for cozy naps

Plays independently with squeaky toys

Loves food puzzles and learning new things

Does great with car rides and will snooze in the back

Loves walks, she’s an energetic lady, great to get your steps in!

Scrunchie is housetrained, quiet, and a sweet, fun, well-behaved foster pup!

She doesn’t bark when she’s left on her own.

She’ll let you know when she needs to potty by looking into your eyes or by putting her paws on your arm or lap. When Scrunchie is left on her own for a longer day (eight hours) she will use a pee pad.

Scrunchie has gained confidence on walks–her foster lives in the Lower Haight which can get busy with cars, sounds and foot traffic which can overwhelm this little lady. When we’re out early in the morning, or at a quiet time in the evening, she takes time to sniff the pee mails, is relaxed and at her best.

With training, Scrunchie is learning not to tug or rush to say hi to a dog she sees in the distance. With consistent positive training, Scrunchie shows she’ll respond to her name, get distracted by a treat and relax.

She loves meeting people, enjoys meeting other dogs and will eagerly sit for treats. Scrunchie does best in environments that are not overwhelming, so we go to the dog park when it’s not “Doggie Rush Hour.”

Scrunchie’s ideal home is calm, full of love for this sweetheart, with a commitment to support her progress through positive reinforcement and snuggles!
