Saltie, a famous folksinger of the coffee house era, is still the gorgeous terrier she always was, clad, of course, in stylish vintage fur. She’s rocking a little bit of a mohawk these days, and loving the obscurity of life out of the limelight. She hangs well with dogs and people, digs a gentle vibe and appreciates being a quiet observer at parties where people used to charge at her with questions about David Crosby. Mind you, she’s seen and heard it all, so if you’re looking for a good listener with zero judgement and plenty of compassion, she’s your gal.
Here’s some notes from her foster:
Saltie is the most wonderful dog. She already seems to feel at home. We put her bed in a separate room last night and closed the door (door open during the day). She had no problems with sleeping alone (no barking or crying). She follows us around the house and is curious about everything. When we are reading/sitting at the computer, she curls up in her bed. She is able to jump up on couches and our bed, which we discourage but overall, she is very well behaved.
She loves food and looks for more. Don’t be surprised if you see her lifting her leg on walks, she’s just marking her favorite bushes. She likes car rides and looking out the window. She loves to be outside. Loves to go for walks and can easily walk at a brisk pace for half a mile.
Saltie is not afraid of other dogs or people. Is calm and friendly when meeting other dogs. City life does not bother her – no fear of traffic or trucks and loves to poke her nose in shops.
She’s made Golden Gate Park her own back yard. Outside she is very active and loves to play.
She is able to run up and down the stairs and races around when we play. We take her for walks four times a day (a total of over 3 miles yesterday) and she never tires. She rushes to say hello to people and dogs when we are out. She loves treats and being brushed.
