Rumi is the kind of dog who steals your heart quietly: first with her soft tan fur, then with her one adorable floppy ear, and finally with the way she looks at you when she trusts you! She starts off a little unsure, staying close but cautious, watching the world with big, thoughtful eyes. But give her time, show her she’s safe, and she unfolds into pure love. When Rumi opens up, she becomes a snuggle seeking sweetheart who wants nothing more than to be close. She leans in, relaxes her whole body, and settles into the deepest, happiest cuddles. She’s gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet joy. Rumi is looking for someone who sees her softness, believes in her, and wants a loyal, loving companion by their side!

Rumi is a big girl with an even bigger heart! Her gentle, soulful nature and sweet spirit make her the perfect companion for anyone lucky enough to meet her. She’s soft-spoken (no barking) and loves nothing more than quietly taking in the world from her favorite window perch, “people-watching” like it’s her job.
She’s been through a lot: from being someone’s beloved pet to becoming a stray, then finding her way to Muttville, and now settling into my home. Through it all, she’s handled every change with grace and quiet resilience, taking her time to process and trust again. If you’ve ever spent time with a German Shepherd, you’ll recognize that thoughtful, loyal energy right away!
One of Rumi’s most endearing traits is how people-focused and intuitive she is. She’s incredibly smart and thrives with structure… clear, steady guidance helps her feel secure and show off her amazing potential. Rumi loves being part of the pack, whether it’s hanging out with humans or chilling alongside other dogs. She’s wonderfully adaptable, which makes her a great fit for homes with an established routine or other pets.
For such a big dog, she has a funny way of trying to shrink herself into small spaces, which never fails to make us laugh. She’s strong, nimble, and loves a good walk or climb up the stairs. Rumi’s highly food-motivated (she’ll happily perform tricks for treats!) but she’s also polite… no counter-surfing here. She does best with a calm, consistent person who can keep her training on track.
At home, she’s an angel… content to nap while you’re out, and overjoyed to greet you when you return. Rumi truly is a special dog with a kind heart and so much love to give. I can’t wait for her to find the forever family she’s been waiting for—they’re in for something really special…!
