Roller Ball

Roller Ball

#12800
Chihuahua, Short Coat
Male
17 lbs (small)
Status: Adopted

We discovered Roller Ball in a local call center, fielding inquiries about the best restaurants and bowling allies in the greater San Francisco area. This job was perfect for this little short coat Chihuahua, as his previous Foster mum reports that Roller Ball loves to chat with everyone! Upon arrival, we learned that Roller Ball also loves him a lap! He sauntered into HQ, making himself right at home, expecting to be put to work on our phone lines. But since he recently celebrated his 9th birthday, he clearly was relieved to discover he’s just here to find a new forever home! Roller Ball is good on a leash and enjoys his walkies, and at 16 pounds, daily exercise is a must to maintain his male ingenue good looks. We’ve been told by those who know him well, that he’s also super friendly, and just loves other dogs! So much so, that sometimes he invades the personal space of every new friend he meets. But his heart is in the right place! If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly love bug who will happily sit with you, watching your favorite shows, taking you on walks, and possibly doling out advice on occasion, then you should roll on in and meet Roller Ball!

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Roller Ball loves to cuddle and he loves to play. Balls and squeaky things get a skeptical side eye and he might even cross a room to get away from a particularly suspicious ball, but he likes to play with little stuffies, and he loves a gentle tug of war with a rope stuffie. He can also sit for hours in your lap while you work on a computer (although you have to have the computer on a desk, because otherwise he will insist on sitting on it.)

After he decides someone is one of his people, which seems to take about 15 minutes, he loves to lavish them with doggie kisses.

He has a lot of energy for a middle aged dog. He gets zoomies after each meal and races around with excitement. When he gets excited playing with someone, he can be mouthy and it’s nice to have a stuffy to offer him to chew on. He just writhes with excitement when he’s getting lots of affection. He likes to present you with his butt for back scritches, which he especially loves, and he can’t quite decide whether he wants to burrow into you with his head or present his bum for more scritches.

He is very responsive to what his people want about when to cuddle and when to let us do our own thing, which furniture he’s allowed on and when he gets to eat or not eat. He loves his food, but he has been very civil about us making and eating our own dinner, and he hasn’t begged while we eat.

When we invite him to be in our laps, he will walk a short distance away and then take a running leap to launch himself into the lap. Adorable.

He is prone to getting too cold. In cool weather, he needs a sweater outside. He’s house trained. He has been reactive to bigger dogs when on leash, but is super friendly to other small dogs, sometimes overwhelming them with his enthusiasm.

He mostly is very excited to meet new people, and seems fearless with most strangers. He’s very easy to walk. He likes to curl up on our couch looking out the windows at the neighborhood. When a big dog goes by, he’ll raise his head and watch it on high alert, but he hasn’t barked.
