Muttville recently sat down with the one and only Roku for an interview!
Muttville: Roku, let’s start with your name. It’s new for you, right?
Right! I’m really feeling my new moniker. One of the amazing vet techs gave it to me, and I have to say that it definitely suits me. I also go by "Roks and my foster mom calls me "Baby Roki.
Muttville: Tell us about your ideal day
I like to get going around 8:00 or 8:30 in the morning. Not too early, but not too late. I’ll let you know when it’s time for breakfast because that’s my favorite meal of the day. Actually, every meal is my favorite! I don’t mind going back to bed after I eat and go potty, but sometimes I get to take a car ride, which is exciting. I like to see everything that’s going on out in the world, and I even figured out how to roll down the car windows. Walks are great, too! I enjoy exploring the neighborhood and meeting new people. I’ve been told that I’m quite a polite gentleman when I make new acquaintances, both human and canine. Since I love to nap, my ideal day would include plenty of napping. And eating – did I already mention that? After dinner, I like to cuddle up on the couch for Scrabble or my favorite shows: Antiques Roadshow and the Great British Baking Show.
Muttville: We hear that you’re a fan of sunbathing
Oh yeah! I love to let it all hang out in the sun. I’m working on my tan.
Muttville: How do you feel about your foster siblings?
I like being part of a pack, but on my terms. Sometimes I get a little intimidated by the big guy (he’s 80 pounds!), even though he’s super nice to me. I’m more comfortable with my foster sister because she is my size. I will share the couch with her, but I don’t like to share the couch with bigger dogs. My foster mom said something about "resource guarding, whatever that it! But as long as I have a designated bed and no one gets in the way of my food, I don’t mind living with other dogs.
Muttville: Is it true that you like spa treatments?
Totally! My foster mom gives me a special bath twice a week with this amazing shampoo. I’m so patient because it does incredible things for my coat. The shampoo is helping me grow new fur, and I’m beginning to feel like a new dog.
Muttville: Anything else that you would like to share?
I’m looking forward to settling in with my forever family. I am more than happy to cuddle up in dog bed and nap while you read or watch tv. I’m also always happy to go for a walk, but if you’re tired, I’m cool to just chill at home with you. I’m really not too demanding. My dream is to spend the rest of my life soaking up the sun and being loved.
-Roku is a great little walker
-Roku doesn’t initiate cuddles, but bring him up on the sofa to snuggle, and is very happy to sit next to you
Here’s some notes from his Foster:
Roku is a super loveable little scuff-a-muffin. He has been through a lot, but we are starting to see his personality emerge. He has an inquisitive spirit and he likes to explore the backyard and sunbathe on the deck.
Roku does a great job of walking on leash and he enjoys going out for walks in the neighborhood. His appetite has really improved and he does a cute little dance when he gets excited about food. He does well with our 10 year old son.
He’s a sweetie. Loves his walks, energetic, great pep to his step. He’s met dogs that are off and on-leash at Baker Beach, Golden Gate Park, Duboce Park and he sniffs/does great, sometimes wants to join and play.
He does great with his baths, he’s a little champ.
Roku is a snuggly little guy, and he likes to curl up on my lap or next to me for cuddles. I will miss him when he is adopted, but I know that he will make someone very happy!
