Lovely Rita and her big smile!!! This girl is sweet as pie and is so ready to start her new life with you. Rita came to us from Sutter County after her guardian could no longer care for her. Rita is said to be 12yrs old and weighs 21lbs.
HERE’S WHAT HER FOSTER HAS TO SAY!
Rita is so lovely! She is also so silly, so loving, and so Rita! She is my favorite pure-breed – a total mutt. A dash of dachshund, or a bit of beagle, maybe chihuahua … and in the right light on Sunday’s, I swear I can see some corgi! She has the sweetest face, loves kisses, a stroke between the eyes and head scratchies. She may totter around on those short little legs of hers, but she loves to chase a ball in the living room after she warms up to you. Her loving temperament, love of anything chicken, and need to couch cuddle have endeared her to our whole family. It took about a two days for her to let her guard down and we started to see some of the real Ms. Rita in our day-to-day. It was about a week later that she started to get comfortable, initiate cuddles and play and understand the new routine. She loves to stay about two paces behind me wherever I am, whatever I’m up to. She’s also ready to get some sweet cuddles or just take a long snooze beside me, no matter the time of day. She goes at her own pace on walks – when she’s done she’s, well…..done. But she’ll happily trot home from wherever she is.
She’s not a huge fan of car rides but is ok at lower speeds, she likes life in the slow lane! We are still working on her house training but she is super happy to stick to a regular schedule and is improving every day.
She REALLY loves meal time, hers and ours! She can’t wait for her dinner, but also can’t wait to see if she can get a bit of yours. We’ve been working on redirecting this but she can be a very determined (and cute) little lady, so it’s important everyone in the family can keep their resolve! She has gotten on extremely well with our little 7yo Pom/Chi/Weenie mix! She can be a little nervous around new dogs at the dog park, but can easily overcome with the right person at her side.
