Calling all MinPin lovers! This guy is pure perfection!!!!
Much like his tennis icon namesake, our super senior Rafael looks amazing for his age. He doesn’t have all his teeth or play tennis, but we’re sure he’d do exceptionally well on a clay surface. A chocolate butterscotch MinPin with a seemingly insatiable lust for life, you’ll find him smiling, exploring, climbing stairs, making friends, and gathering scritches at Muttville, where his ears and eyebrows are a constant source of awe and entertainment. He also has impeccable manners and enjoys a walk. Adopt Rafael for a loyal pal who’s ready to teach you a thing or two about aging gracefully.
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Rafael has a very big personality in a small (ish) body!
Rafael is a very sweet and loving dog and eager to enjoy every minute of life! Raf likes to know what’s going on at all times, once he checks the situation out and is happy with the results then he’ll be able to relax. He’s great at reading the room- if everyone is up and about so is he, when it’s time to relax or work he’ll find a comfy spot nearby and relax as well.
Rafael is a smart guy and responds well to positive reinforcement. He loves food and can get a bit excited when it’s meantime- to keep things calm he’s been eating separately from other dogs. He eats soft foods, and seems to enjoy it. I’ve been giving his treats on a lick mat, in a puzzle or in frozen form which is great if you want to keep him occupied for a while.
Rafael enjoys multiple walks a day, and does well on leash. While he is unsure how he feels about bigger dogs, he mostly ignores smaller dogs and people while walking.
Once he has taken a 15 min walk, he’ll come home and chill out/nap. I’ve found two walks (or more) help get out some of his nervous energy.
Rafael is a very confident boy around other dogs. He seems fine with dogs of any size if he’s off leash. If a dog is receiving attention from a human, he will likely try to push his way in and move the other dog out of the way with his body. When he does that I’ll just walk away and after a few tries he tends to give up and becomes more patient. Even during those times of pushiness, nothing escalates to anything more than him letting out a “yap”.
