Professor Plum is a GREAT dog once he warms up to you. He loves to have his belly rubbed & lays next to me on the couch & bed. He eats well, listens, doesn’t seem stressed when I leave for hours, doesn’t go the bathroom in the house. He is very happy to see me when I come home. He sleeps at my feet while I’m working. He is a good boy who responds to love. He loves taking walks, easily climbs stairs & likes to roam around my backyard. He sleeps during the day while I’m working & sleeps all night on my bed. He is a little shy around other dogs, but will sniff & be sniffed. He doesn’t bark or pull on the leash around other dogs.
Professor Plum spent his Thanksgiving holiday with a temporary foster and here’s what they had to say!
Professor Plum is aptly named because he’s quite intelligent. He just needs to be shown once or twice where to “go potty” and he’s perfect. We have weewee grass on our patio for in-between walks and he goes right in the center to avoid any mishaps. When I bring him in from outdoors, I always wipe his feet and he loves it. He lays still and allows me to get each paw and then rolls over so I can finish the job.
I gave him a bath with the shower head sprayer and he seemed to enjoy it. Once he was out on his towel he stayed on it and played, rolling around inside the towel. He practically dried himself off before running up and down the hallway with my other dog.
At night, he sleeps next to my bed on a comfy dog bed and he loves to be cuddled and covered with a soft blanket. He sleeps all through the night without a sound. In the mornings, he loves to be woken up with a belly rub and he gets so excited. As we make it into the kitchen he starts jumping around waiting for his meal. He is an absolute joy!
On walks, he doesn’t pull at all and sometimes I have to double check that he’s with me because it’s so pleasurable. Walking my own dog is such a pain : ) He stays close to me and doesn’t get tangled up or get underfoot.
During the day he likes to sleep on his dog bed and in the evenings he curls up in a covered, soft dog house in the living room.
He does very well with other dogs and isn’t threatening. He’s quite submissive and allows the other dog to be in charge. He’s happy to stop and sniff dogs on walks and hasn’t been reactive in the least.

Professor Plum has been my obsession since he arrived at Muttville. He came to us fearful and anxious, but I could tell that underneath all of that, there was a pup who really wanted to be loved. You see, it turns out Plummie and I have a lot in common: we’re both introverts; we both like to take our time making friends; we both like processed cheese and belly rubs; and we both like hanging out in familiar places with comfy spots to take naps. While Professor is a bit shy, he is very keen to make friends with both people and dogs; he just likes to take a little more time doing so. He’s a very sweet and loving dog and would love to be the sole wingman to a patient and understanding Master of Belly Rubs.
