Performance, a youthful mutt mix with long legs and soulful eyes, traveled many miles, through all kinds of adversity, before arriving at Muttville. How then to explain her enduring kindness and generous spirit? It’s definitely not an act. This darlin’ girl is a natural sweetie pie, thrilled by the concept of toys, and quick to offer them to friendly people, whom she approaches with barely contained joy. Give her some pets and she’ll lean in, all smiles and wags. She’s full of energy, gets along fine with canine brethren, and dreams of a safe and loving home. Visit her today and she’ll bring you a stuffed duck.
Here’s some notes from her foster:
She seems to be potty trained and has not had any accidents in the house. She’s such a delight to have as a coworker as I work from home. She sleeps through the night in her own bed although she’d definitely prefer to cuddle up with you. Performance loves to go on walks. She’s good on leash and she gets really excited about the new adventure! She may pull occasionally if she’s on an unfamiliar route, but once she knows the route, she doesn’t pull at all. She definitely needs at least one longer walk a day (30-60 mins), not that she couldn’t do more, I’m convinced she doesn’t actually know her exhaustion limit.
She loves all humans, adults, kids, delivery people, construction workers, etc. ANYONE! She wants to greet them if they are willing to say hello. She’s even friendly to the Halloween decorations that usually scare dogs; she sniffs them all, even when they talk and move.
When it comes to dogs – she seems pretty disinterested in them. We can pass on the sidewalk with no issue. I’ve never had to avoid any dogs/cross the street while on walks. If they bark at her more often than not she will bark back (especially if they’re bigger than her) but then she’s over it.
She’s great at being home alone. The first time we left her, we asked our neighbor to stop by if she was crying. They said they never heard a peep from her. So it seems she’s fine being alone; she’s either in her bed or on the couch when we come home. We do leave calming noise on for her, not sure how much she likes that, but it’s something we’ve always done for our dogs.
She has a strong interest in children. When we’ve passed schools, she tries to pull us over to the school. We’ve stopped and met adults with kids and she greets the kids but then goes right back to the adults. I think she’d do fine with a family. Although she does not know the difference between dog toys and children’s toys. She is very easy to redirect or take items from; there is no aggression or guarding. That goes for toys, food, and anything she shouldn’t have.
I can’t emphasize enough how loving and cuddly she is. She’s the ultimate snuggle bug. Big spoon, little spoon, on your lap, next to you, anywhere she can snuggle you, she will. I joke her love languages are physical touch, food, toys, and walks. She’s learning commands like sit and lie down.
Overall, Performance is a great mix of energy and chill. She’ll always be down for an outdoor adventure and a snuggly movie night on the couch.
