Peddy – 15-year-old Pit Bull Mix | Ventura County Animal Services
Peddy is a sweet 15-year-old 64 lb pittie mix who came to Ventura County Animal Services on April 6 after his family was forced to surrender him due to housing issues. Despite losing the only home he knew, Peddy has remained a gentle, friendly soul who still finds joy in people and new adventures.
He currently participates in playgroup with the shelter’s gentle, dainty dogs. He greets both people and other dogs with a calm, friendly demeanor. While he isn’t interested in playing, he’s happy to quietly socialize and coexist with his canine companions.
For a senior, Peddy has an impressive zest for life. I recently took him on a day trip to the beach, and he was absolutely thrilled to be out exploring. He loves sniffing everything, eagerly pulls toward people to say hello, and is surprisingly strong and energetic for his age. He clearly enjoys getting out into the world and soaking up every new experience.
Peddy arrived at the shelter with a significant skin infection and pronounced arthritis. Despite these challenges, he has maintained a good body condition and is remarkably strong for a 15-year-old dog. While his arthritis is managed, his skin has been slow to recover in the stressful shelter environment. He currently receives weekly medicated baths, which he tolerates beautifully—especially when he’s given a chew to enjoy during bath time.
Peddy deserves the chance to spend his golden years in a comfortable home where his skin can heal, his joints can rest on a soft bed, and he can continue enjoying walks, sniffaris, and the companionship of people who love him. He’s a gentle old gentleman with plenty of life left to live and so much love still to give.
Peddy is currently available through Ventura County Animal Services in Camarillo, California, and is urgently looking for a foster, rescue partner, or adoptive home. After spending months in the shelter, he deserves the comfort and stability of a loving home for his golden years.
