Pearl is a gem of a hound, with her floppy ears, big soulful eyes, lovely smile and gorgeous tricolor coat. She’s an avid sunbather and enjoys exploring outside, sniffing all the latest smells. This big beauty is friendly and likes dogs of all sizes.

HERE’S WHAT PEARL’S FOSTER DAD HAS TO SAY!

Pearl is the sweetest old lady. She just wants a relaxing place to lounge, ideally within arms reach of someone willing to stop what they are doing and scratch behind her ears or give her side pats.

She’ll spend most of the day napping or just lying stretched out on her dog bed. She occasionally migrates to a new location to get comfortable, and loves lying in the grass or a sunny patch of a backyard. She really is not into toys or "playing per se, but enjoys exploring on shorter walks, and seems to enjoy routes a lot if she’s been a few times. She can manage stairs, but definitely has a harder time if she’s already tired out from a walk.

Pearl is completely house trained. She’s very quiet, but will let you know when she needs to go outside. However, I think there was some stress when initially moving into a new home and she has a bit of a sensitive digestive system. She had one accident in the kitchen when first moving and we had to switch from regular dog food to a diet of mostly boiled chicken and rice for a few days. She was in good spirits, but I think all the big changes weren’t great on her body.

She loves people and is extremely well behaved around small and large groups of adults. Pearl will hover if she thinks that you are going to offer her some snacks, but doesn’t mooch if you’re eating nearby. She doesn’t bark at all inside, or get too worked up about anything except cats (she really doesn’t like cats)!

She will politely engage with other dogs, but the only time we’ve heard her bark or howl is when she spotted a cat on the top of the neighbors fence. Even when riled up Pearl is too gentle a soul to be aggressive, but she will loudly proclaim to any and all neighborhood cats that she’s not a fan. If you are looking for a quiet, sweet, old dog and you have the time passively hang out in her company, Pearl is wonderful and will love to be in your home.
