Precious poodle Parasol has found her way to Muttville for the summer, and we couldn’t be happier to have her. This stellar super-senior, at an impressive 16 years young, received a phenomenal glow-up after arriving at Muttville and is now one of the spiffiest seniors on the block. This gentle sweetheart would love nothing more than to be propped up in a sunny spot to settle in for a spell, much like most parasols. This Parasol might not offer much shade, but she is happy to offer pets, wiggles, and tail wags to anyone willing to sit with her. Ms. Parasol gets along quite well with other dogs, and she’s a friend to all, big or small. Her sweet attitude and sunny demeanor make her the perfect poolside pup, so if you have a spare invite to your next summer soiree, consider offering it to Parasol! She’d love to meet you, especially if you have a soft, warm lap to snuggle in.
Here’s some notes from her foster:
Parasol has settled in so nicely, showing herself to be such a sweet, gentle girl. She is almost entirely deaf and blind, but her nose still works great for sniffing out treats, people, and soft blankets to lay on! Although she spends most of her day relaxing or napping on her bed, she still has quite a bit of energy and loves to go for little “adventures” around the house and yard. However, she’s at her happiest curled up somewhere soft and cozy getting ear scritches and chest rubs. Rub her ears just right and you’ll become her best friend forever!
She doesn’t seem to have much experience on a leash, and her sensory impairments mean that it is difficult for her to navigate new places, so she tends to mostly just walk around in circles or figure-eights (which is adorable). That’s just fine for Parasol-some sniff time around the backyard, kitchen, and bedroom is plenty of excitement for one day for this girl!
She seems to be somewhat potty trained, and goes right away when taken outside, but she still has an occasional accident. This seems to have gotten a little better as she’s become more familiar with the space and we’ve learned each others’ routines, so establishing a regular potty schedule will be important for her new home. She’s quite clever, though, and learns new places and patterns quickly.
She has so much love to give and will really thrive in a consistent, stable environment.
