Meet the adorable Papaya! T his little cutie has lots of pep for a senior gal. Papaya is a very sweet, and a little bit shy of a pup. She needs some time to shine, but the patience pays off. She is learning so many new things every day and is eager to please. We think Papaya is perfection!

Here’s some notes from her foster:

Papaya is soft and sweet like her name! This girl is quiet as a mouse – no barks or whines in the 3 days I’ve had her. No evidence of separation anxiety either when I go to work. She seems potty trained and holds it until I take her outside (read: zero accidents). No need for pill pockets here – Papaya swallows her pills like a champ when mixed with her food. Reigns supreme when it comes to cuddling and especially loves to snuggle at night!

Papaya has a gentle personality and gets overwhelmed by all the city noises. I’m not sure if she’s ever been on a leash prior to Muttville; she doesn’t walk linearly, keeps her little tail tucked, is hypervigilant, and gets spooked by loud noises such as the MUNI, motorcycles, construction, etc. Instead, she likes to sunbathe in the yard where things are quiet, contained, and predictable. She is also awkward with stairs and likely hasn’t had much experience with them in the past. When it comes to meeting others, she gets a bit anxious but has not had any issues with any dogs or humans. She came with me to visit some family for dinner and gently greeted the 1yo with a quick hello sniff, then checked out the house before choosing a quiet corner to spend the evening.

At home she is a napping queen and has decidedly made clear she is beyond dog beds and claimed her spot on the human bed. She has been mostly low energy but my guess is with her athletic physique she has a bit more energy than she is showing since she is currently recovering from her spay and has meds that might make her drowsy. As far as her appetite, she can be picky with treats, but loves her dog food and does not beg! She is a phenomenal dog and whomever chooses her will be so lucky to have her!
