Meet Oso, a gentle old soul with a heart full of love and an underbite that will absolutely steal yours! At his wise senior age, Oso is the definition of mellow. He is just a laid-back lover who’s happy to go with the flow. He’s curious about the world, enjoys short strolls to sniff around, and then is perfectly content to curl up for snuggles. Oso gets along well with other dogs and brings a peaceful, sweet presence wherever he goes. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing companion with a quirky smile, Oso is your guy!

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Oso is loving, sweet and curious. He looks for his person and so far loves to be by my side. He loves curling up next to you on the couch. We’ve started working on a little alone time training. He listens when you tell him no or redirect him.

He is a great eater, easily eating his JFFD beef and potato. I’m giving him 4 small meals per day to help him gain weight. He is very treat motivated. He’s also enjoyed some bits of cheese and apple. He loves to eat and seeks out food. He’s agile and able to jump up on a table so be cautious about leaving food out! He’s curious about what we are eating but easily leaves us alone while we eat with a gentle no.

He loves to sleep by his person and even under the covers. He sleeps for 8 hours easily. He can easily jump up and down from the couch but for a taller bed I pick him up, although he could jump down.

He is a dream in the car. Jumps up and sits in his bed on a harness seatbelt. He stays calm in the backseat and doesn’t make any noise. Waits for you to leash him up to get out of the car.

He seems totally potty trained and has not had any accidents in the house. He likes to sniff all along the street and gardens on his walks. He goes quickly on the sidewalk once we go outside.

He can easily go up our 13 hardwood stairs but seems tentative going down them so I’ve been carrying him down. However, he’s getting more confident and we’re trying a couple of stairs down at a time and he is able to do that.

Walking on leash is an area an adopter can help Oso work on. For a small guy, he is strong and we are working on reducing his tugging on the leash to go fast. He can benefit from an adopter who can help him learn to be calmer when he sees another dog on leash approaching or across the street. We are working on this and he is very smart and treat and affection-motivated and he’s made some progress in just a couple of days.

Oso is very very sweet!
