Calling all chug fans: we have your new crush! What’s a chug, you ask? A chihuahua/pug mix. Melvin has the apple head and small stature of a chi and the adorable folded ears and overall softness of a pug. Who can resist? Sweet Melvin enjoys being by your side and will happily putter after you around the house. He may have some weakness in his legs, but he likes to go for walks. Make sure to bring a bag so you can take him for all kinds of adventures!

Melvin is a sweet little man who loves to follow his person around and spend quality time together! Melvin loves going on walks and going on adventures while being carried in a doggy tote. While at home, he always wants to be nearby and is a comforting presence with his happy little snorts.
Melvin has arthritis in his back legs, but he doesn’t let that keep him from frolicking outside! He loves going on walks and taking in new smells. He takes it a little easy when going uphill, but he kicks up the speed when on flat ground. Since Melvin is a little slow, I’ll carry him across the street on any busy roads. He also seems to handle going down stairs just fine (we only have a few steps though), but needs assistance going up stairs. If he’s excited, he’ll hustle his way up a stair or two.
We are working on potty training Melvin as he has a tendency to mark in the house. We have been bringing him outside at steady intervals which has helped. His signal so far seems to be when he starts pacing around and staring at you, then it’s time to go!
Melvin gets along well with other dogs! He’s overall just a really easy going guy! He rarely barks or makes much noise and sleeps solidly through the night (his snoring makes it clear how well rested he is). Melvin seems like he may be deaf, and gets a little startled if you approach him from above or behind. When in a new space, he takes it slow but becomes quite curious when he’s more comfortable.
