As good looks go, it’s hard to improve on the lavish glamour of a Golden Retriever. But it can be done! Add some Chow Chow to the mix and you get McCallister, a butterscotch fluff nugget with floppy ears and a curl in his tail. Both classy and cute, he’s a huggable lion impersonator with a very big smile. He’s a champion networker, super friendly with dogs and people, and a strong believer in treats for every occasion. He’s up for daily jaunts and we think he’ll learn to climb stairs with the proper motivation (i.e. aforementioned treats). Looking for a happy-go-lucky guy in a gorgeous fur coat? He awaits your visit.

Here are some notes from his foster:

- He relishes his time outside! He happily hung out in our (small) backyard for hours at a time and seems to enjoy walks. We never heard him use his voice, but he would occasionally scratch the door to go outside, not because he had to go to the bathroom, just to hang outside.

- He has a good appetite but isn’t very food motivated. He’ll eat every morsel of breakfast or dinner, but doesn’t beg for food and is only moderately interested in treats (very pro peanut butter though).

- He’s an excellent couch snuggle buddy, though he has been timid about getting on and off the couch and might benefit from a ramp. I think he’s quite capable of getting up and down on his own, but might not be used to doing so.

- He gets excited to see and meet other dogs. We’ve found him to be pretty calm when engaging with other pups, but only had a small sample size. He might benefit from some additional leash training just because he is so eager to hang out with other pups.

- He’s potty trained, reliably goes to the bathroom while on walks, and is great at self-regulating.

- McCallister does pretty well in the car too! He gets curious about what’s going on outside and with the driver/passenger, but doesn’t seem at all phased by being in the car.

- Not a big fan of wood floors, but he was adjusting to ours over time.

In short, he is a gem!
