Maury, accomplished forest ranger, is looking for a place to call home. He has worked tirelessly to prevent forest fires and now needs a couch and a bowl of chicken. He has big brown eyes and pointy ears, and is good with all dogs and humans. Safety first, Maury will always alert you to danger, but his heart wants nothing more than to relax into your arms forever. He is a sweetheart and can’t wait to meet you.
-Maury is house trained
-Maury would do well in a home with other dogs
-Maury loves to snuggle and go for short walks
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Maury is a very quiet and low maintenance boy. He enjoys sleeping in secluded locations (his current favorite is the bathroom rug) but slowly melts on your lap if you want a little company – especially if he can bury his head into the crook of your arm. He doesn’t demand attention, but calmly accepts it as long as you have a gentle approach (otherwise he backs away). He’s also potty trained, needing very few potty breaks and sleeping through the night until I get him up in the morning (more than 12 hours later!).
He doesn’t mind being left behind – he just goes to another unique location for yet another nap. He’s also happy to join me when I’m on the go – riding nicely in the car and taking in the view from my dog tote. He can handle a few steps, but a full flight of stairs gets a bit daunting for him. That may improve over time, but he’s so light that it’s easy to scoop him up and carry him to the landing.
He enjoys his slow short walks, and enjoys meeting other dogs on the way. He gives our cat the space she demands and enjoys sharing a friendly sniff at our resident dog. Maury is a shy and sweet dog. It’s been rewarding to see him slowly relax and learn to trust us and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
