Pick a card, any card! Now give me a treat. I’m blind, so I can’t see the cards anyway. That’s right, Magician can’t see – but maybe not knowing how incredibly handsome he is keeps him from becoming conceited. In addition to being beautiful but not stuck-up about it, Magician is also sweet, gentle, and perfect.
Here are some notes from his foster:
Magician has adjusted well at home and blossoming as each day passes. He is a great pottier-outside, eater of foods, and sleeper of beds.
He’s been at a few weeks of events with no potential adopters but I think I know why – he just doesn’t “show” well. He gets to the events and pretends he is blind, deaf, and boring! Okay, he is a little blind and a little deaf but he is DEFINITELY not boring! As he settled in, he is proving to be just the sweetest, low-key guy looking for someone to give him food (treats!) and pet his soft, loveable head.
He spends a lot of time sleeping the day away, getting as cozy as he can. Every morning (and at mealtimes), he spins and wags his tail in excitement for a new day!
He does a great job going potty outside and has started to go to the door when it’s time but he does dribble a bit so I strapped on a bellyband to keep the drips off the floor. He doesn’t mind at all. He also doesn’t mind the eye drops and pretty much lets me do whatever I need. I think at one time he had an opinion but nowadays, he’ll let you do what’s best for him!
I introduced him to a stroller so we could go for pretty long walks to the dog park and he LOVES it. Despite his wobbly back legs, this guy can walk almost a mile! He has done it on several occasions at a fairly good pace. I often have to stop him and say, “That’s enough Magician!” transferring him to the stroller when I feel he’s overdoing it. He will let out a happy bark.
He would be ideal for someone looking to take care of an old, easy guy and just wants a great companion. He is super lowkey with people and all other dogs. A short sniff and then he is off on his own exploration. He really does seem to like other dogs and would do well in a home with one, if possible. A furry friend may be good stimulation for him.
