Luna is an active 9 year old rat terrier. I adopted her from a shelter in Santa Cruz on May 7th, without getting nearly enough information about the 2 dogs that they asked me take because they thought they were bonded. Turns out they weren’t, and are doing far better each by themselves.
Luna is very smart & wants to please her “people”. She wouldn’t be good with cats or kids. She loves women & is quite affectionate. She is afraid of men at first, but once she gets to know them & trusts them she’s fine.
She loves to chase a ball (or small animals!) She gets along with most dogs, but likes to be by herself outside & is good at amusing herself. Inside, she will chase a ball but loves to cuddle with her “person.” She also watches TV & tends to get pretty excited if she sees other animals on the screen!
She is spayed & up to date on all her vaccinations. Because I live in The Villages & we aren’t allowed to have fenced yards & we have no dog runs, this was NOT the best place for her.
She weighs approximately 18 lbs (but could stand to lose a few lbs.)
She is currently in Salinas at a Board & Train. The trainer also runs her farm there & Luna loves being able to go outside & run in the big fenced areas. She has not bothered any of the animals. She now gets along with most dogs, but after having her for 4 months, I could see that she was trying to compete for my affection & her shelter mate (who is only 1 1/2 yrs old) was “picking” on her—even though they had come from the same home. So she’d probably prefer to be the only dog in the home.
She really is a sweetheart & I wish I could have kept her, but it didn’t make sense for her to be here. Her trainer is also happy to talk to anyone about her. Thanks for your consideration.
