Love, an impossibly adorable chi who is, coincidentally, what the world needs now, has, in her 8 short years, probably been the subject of countless pop songs, country ballads, and sonnets. We’ve been working on an ode to her white blaze and matching tube socks, splash of freckles and Mona Lisa grin. She can be a tad timid, but always happy to be in a lap and mingles well with other dogs, including curious bigs with less-than-ideal manners. She may look like a puppy – probably her pep and extra cute one-up-one-down ear game – but she contains the wisdom, grace and affectionate spirit of an elder. Looking for a furry soulmate? All you need is Love.
Here’s some notes from her foster:
Love, at first sight, is a very energetic senior mutt! She’s very agile, able to leap onto couches and human beds without doggy stairs and goes up and down stairs easily and leisurely. She spent her first day in our home cruising the perimeter and familiarizing herself with the layout of our home, not quite sure where her favorite spots will be yet.
She seemed to want a bit more time to acclimate, so we generally left her alone and offered some snacks and dinner (surprisingly more keen on the latter) as she settled in, finally picked a cozy dog bed in the evening and tucked herself in. By day two, Love upgraded to the human bed and assigned herself the role of human assistant: constantly the closest animal at your feet as a constant companion, even in the bathroom! If we did need to close a door, she didn’t seem to mind and interpreted it as her being off duty.
Love currently hangs out with two adults, two cats, and another dog. She is attentive to humans and is a lovely addition to the pack, ignoring our cats and ends up spending time with our dog because they both want to be around humans. She enjoys a good chin scratch! Love tolerates short car rides well (20 min) strapped into a car seat. On walks, she walks extra close to her humans and likes to check in with adoring eyes frequently. We have noticed that she seems to do her business once a day in the morning despite going for 3 walks. Love does like to take her time to find the perfect pee spot! You’ll know she’s looking for a spot when she is focused on intensely sniffing at the dirt and roaming about the same area/ hasn’t and checked back with you yet. We’ve left her alone with the other animals for 1.5-2 hours and she picked a nice spot to patiently wait for our return. She is deeply curious in a polite manner about human food and would probably sample some if left unattended. Love is a wonderful and active senior waiting to share her affections to her forever home!
